Marin County residents have elected Edward Alfrey, MD, to the Marin Healthcare District board. Alfrey, medical director of trauma and surgery chair at MarinHealth Medical Center, has 36 years of medical experience. He succeeds Dr. Harris “Hank” Simmonds, who served for 12 years. Alfrey plans to increase access to community clinics and ensure a successful MarinHealth-UCSF Health alliance.
Marin Healthcare District Votes to Fund Five COVID-19 Community-Based Projects
Marin Healthcare District has awarded $942,000 to Marin County Department of Health and Human Services and MarinHealth for five COVID-19 community projects. These include housing for COVID-19 positive patients and high-risk staff, pulse oximetry test kits, mobile testing at hotspot locations and skilled nursing facilities, and an income replacement fund for healthcare workers.

The center has served the North Bay medical community since 1984, offering a wide range of MRI services. Despite recent decreases in opioid prescriptions and death rates, accidental overdoses remain a significant concern for public health officials.
